Alleged Horse-punching Philly Fan Sues Both Eagles and Police

The Philadelphia fan who was arrested for allegedly punching a police horse and a mounted officer prior to the Eagles winning the NFC Championship game is now suing both the team and police.

Andrew Tornetta, who has denied striking the horse and claims he was beaten by police officers for no reason, is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for suffering “physical pain, discomfort, trauma, humiliation, embarrassment, emotional distress, sleeplessness, anxiety, inability to perform simple activities of daily living, depression characterized by feelings of despair, hopelessness, and despondency.”

In addition to those injuries, Tornetta claims he was “demonized on social media and internet sites reporting upon his assault on police and his cruelty towards an animal.”

Following the incident, the 20-year-old was charged with assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and failure to disperse. However, those charges were withdrawn after he finished community service and paid $222 in court fees.

Since the incident happened outside Lincoln Financial Field, Tornetta is suing under the Eagles organization under the pretense the security officers weren’t properly trained.
