I-95 is About to be Finished, Finally

The busiest highway in America will run uninterrupted for the first time this summer.

When I-95, the most-used highway in America, is finally completed this summer, the US interstate system dreamed up in the 1950s will be as well. Although I-95 has been connecting the East Coast from Maine to Florida for six decades, there’s always been an eight-mile gap between Pennsylvania and New Jersey, obstructed by local politics during a fierce battle in the 1970s. Construction for the final closing of the gap began in 2010 following years of research. When construction finally does end this year, I-95 will finally be the uninterrupted 1,900 miles of highway of President Eisenhower’s dreams.
