This year’s recipients of the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy have been awarded. Named after Andrew Carnegie, the medal exists to reward those who have invested in and worked toward the greater common good. This year’s medals honored Mei Hing Chak, president of HeungKong Group, for supporting 1,500 school libraries in rural China; Jeff Skoll, once president of eBay, whose work concerns pandemics and nuclear proliferation; Azim Premji, founder of the University of his own name, who has funded education for poor people throughout India; and six others. The medals were awarded at the New York Public Library.
