Once you’ve built an indoor ski resort in the desert, everything else seems pretty manageable. Even so, 2018 will see a remarkable achievement for Dubai: a hotel with its own rainforest. The Rosemont Five Star Hotel and Residences will be exceptional in a number of ways: It’ll stand 53 stories tall; include an “alluring digital underwater world”; and feature “robotic hosts.”

Still, the rainforest is probably the most intriguing development. Located above the hotel’s entertainment floor, the 75,000-square-foot rainforest will include dense trees and canopies. The hotel even promises that in the summer months recycled condensation will be turned into mist coming down from the trees to cool the air. (They also note that a “sensory rain system” will simulate “the sensation of being surrounded by rainfall without actually getting wet.”) The rain forest is expected to be open to the property’s guests and residents, as well as visitors who buy a ticket. With Dubai having recorded temperatures over 120 degrees Fahrenheit, it promises to be a popular attraction. See more renderings of it below.
