Looking to eat junk food, watch rubbish and live a la Kevin McCallister circa 1990 this holiday season? Thanks to Airbnb, you now can … in the real life Home Alone house.
That’s right: for the first time ever, the Chicago-based McCallister family home (which was bought for $1.585 million in 2011 and remains privately owned) will fling its doors open and welcome up to four Home Alone enthusiasts or a one-night stay on December 12. And it’s not a contest, either.

According to Airbnb, in addition to free rein of Kevin’s childhood home, guests will enjoy:
- A cozy holiday scene with twinkling lights and a perfectly trimmed tree in celebration of the season
- Booby traps galore
- Bottles of aftershave stationed near mirrors to scream in
- All the ‘90s favorites their hearts desire, including plenty of Chicago’s finest pizza and a candlelit dinner of microwavable Kraft Macaroni & Cheese
- A meet and greet with a real-life tarantula
- A viewing of the film franchise’s newest holiday adventure, Home Sweet Home Alone
- A LEGO Ideas Home Alone set to take and build at home
So what’s the price of admission you ask? Just $25, and, in honor of the historic-in-its-own-right moment, Airbnb will also be making a one-time donation to Chicago’s La Rabida Children’s Hospital. Because, as the Bird Lady once said, good deeds count extra this time of year.
Reservations open starting at 1:00 PM on December 7 at airbnb.com/homealone. And if you aren’t successful in securing the McCallister house for a pre-Chrismas getaway, consider one of these other Airbnbs to help you recreate another one of your favorite holiday films instead.
