James Holzhauer’s hot streak on Jeopardy has been getting a lot of attention and coverage, and there’s at least one front office in Major League Baseball that has taken note.
According to a report from The Athletic, “at least one” team in MLB has “some level of interest” in Holzhauer’s services.
A career in baseball would be just fine with Holzhauer, who dreamed of working in the game before becoming a successful professional sports gambler in Las Vegas.
“I applied for a number of entry-level positions with teams, but never got anywhere,” Holzhauer told The Athletic. “I’m not sure if this is the case now, but when I was fresh out of college, MLB teams were not paying their entry-level employees a living wage. I’ve thought about going to the Winter Meetings, but I feel that my lack of networking experience would be a serious drawback.”
Now that he’s gotten so much exposure on network television, that might not be such an issue for the 35-year-old. In a Jeopardy episode that aired yesterday, Holzhauer won once again and banked another $80,615 to bring his 21-day total to $1,608,627.
With that win, Holzhauer now has the second longest winning streak in the show’s history behind Ken Jennings.
Jennings won 74 consecutive games and racked up $2,520,700 in winnings.
