The sixth seasons of Netflix’s House of Cards is teetering like… well, like a house of cards.
In the wake of a number of allegations against series star Kevin Spacey, the streaming service and producers Media Rights Capital put the production of its hit political drama on hiatus and fired the two-time Oscar winner. While Netflix has also announced that the upcoming sixth season will be the show’s last, there hasn’t appeared to be a strategy of how to start cameras rolling without President Frank Underwood on the ticket.
So producers sent a letter to the cast and to the press reporting that the paid hiatus would be extended for another two weeks.
The letter, signed by Pauline Micelli, the company’s senior vp television business and legal affairs, promised an update by Dec. 8.
“These last two months have tested and tried all of us in ways none of us could have foreseen,” she wrote. “The one thing we have learned throughout this process is that this production is bigger than just one person and we could not be more proud to be associated with one of the most loyal and talented production cast and crews in this business.”
