Barack Obama is making fatherhood fashion great again.
Enjoying his life out of the White House, Obama is getting more praise for his fashion sense than ever before. In time for Father’s Day, Esquire describes his off-duty looks as “peak dad” (and that’s apparently a good thing).
With precise tailoring and a contemporary approach to wardrobe basics, Obama has managed to look professional and casual every time he makes a public appearance. His leather jacket has earned him some style points with men’s fashion magazines like GQ—as did his linen shirt on a trip to Italy with his wife Michelle.
The post-POTUS praise is ironic since his fashion track record in office wasn’t so flawless. It’s hard to forget the now-infamous “mom jeans” he wore when throwing out the first pitch at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2009.
But these days, it seems a public appearance doesn’t go by without Obama getting positive reviews for his outfit. Instead of his old “mom jeans,” the former president is now being praised for his “dad style.”
