In a letter sent to the NFL on Thursday, an attorney representing banned Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill disputed the allegations of child abuse made against his client by fiancée Crystal Espinal.
The four-page letter contains a point-by-point response to a damning audio recording which was published last week in which the couple discussed what exactly had led to their three-year-old son having a broken arm.
In the leaked audio, the woman in the recording says of the son: “He is terrified of you. And you say that he respects you, but it’s not respect.”
“He respects me,” the man says. “You need to be terrified of me, too, b*tch. That’s why you can’t keep a f*cking man.”
In the letter, Hill’s lawyer N. Trey Pettlon writes: “(Hill) categorically denies he has ever ‘punched’ his son in the chest or anywhere on his body, or otherwise touched him in the chest in a mean-spirited manner.”
Pettlon also included a portion of what he said was a text exchange between the couple.

“Although Ms. Espinal claims in the secret audio to have never used a belt to discipline their child, Tyreek argued that she did, and she has admitted it to him,” Pettlon wrote.
Hill, who is willing to cooperate with the NFL’s investigation into the matter, has been suspended indefinitely by the Chiefs, and an investigation into the case by prosecutors in Johnson County, Kansas, has been reopened.
