The U.S. Open thus far has not been kind to Tiger Woods. In addition to an 8-over par, 102nd-place first-day performance, Tiger also had to deal with a steady barrage of heckling in between shots, many of which have been documented by SB Nation.
There were plenty of contextless, impressively bizarre heckles, such as, “The four horsemen are behind you, Tiger!” There was also the plain inaccurate, like the “Eldridge” chant from one fan who misinterpreted Tiger’s given name of Eldrick.
Yet another fan told Tiger, “IHOP shouldn’t change their name,” a decision over which Woods likely has little control. During the very same hole, another fan yelled at Tiger asking for a shot of Everclear.
It’s tough to be the world’s most famous golfer, especially when you’re struggling and fans are chastising you to “do something really cool. I’ve been waiting here all day, bro.”
