Terrell Owens: I Would Have Knelt Beside Kaepernick During Anthem

The flamboyant wideout is just as outspoken in retirement as he was in his playing days.

In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Terrell Owens said he would have taken a knee beside Colin Kaepernick if he was still playing in the NFL.

Never one to keep his opinions to himself, Owens, who played for the 49ers just like Kaepernick did, said simply: “I’m with Kap.”

Much like Kaepernick, who filed a grievance in October 2017 against NFL owners for collusion, Owens went against the grain for much of his career, a trend that continued into his retirement when he skipped his introduction into the Hall of Fame.

Not showing up to the introduction ceremony did not prevent Owens from having an opinion on the matter. Similarly, even though he’s no longer in the NFL nor his Kap, he has an opinion on kneeling in the league.

“The President does a real good job of deflecting what the real issues are,” he said. “You have owners stepping in, basically siding with the President. Some [players] feel betrayed.”
