Gronkowski will not be racing in the Kentucky Derby. The horse, that is. The 3-year-old colt, named after New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, spiked a fever over the weekend and is being treated with antibiotics, according to owner Phoenix Thoroughbred, a global horse racing investment fund with about 130 horses in its racing and breeding operations and reported by The Wall Street Journal. In a tweet on Monday afternoon, Phoenix said that the horse cannot make the journey to Louisville, but is doing well.

Last week, it was announced that Phoenix had sold a minority stake in the horse to Rob Gronkowski, who was supposed to meet the horse before the race. After the news that horse Gronk will not be racing, the football star decided not to attend.
