Though his team didn’t win the game, Trent Frederic had a big victory in his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

During Boston’s 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Frederic handily won a fight against Brandon Tanev after the veteran forward challenged him to drop the gloves.

After accepting Tanev’s offer, it didn’t take long for Frederic to get in 10 or 11 punches before taking his opponent down to the ice.

Following the bout,  Frederic’s parents, Bob and Gaye, were fired up about their son’s big win, CTE concerns be damned.

“I was getting my feet wet, and it just lived up to the hype of my first NHL game,” Frederic told reporters. “It was a lot of fun.”
