Odell Beckham says he plans to keep wearing his $190,000 Richard Mille watch on the field, but the clock could be ticking on how long he’s still able to.
“I’ll still be wearing it,” Beckham said Tuesday, according to ESPN. “The same way I wear it every day I go to practice, when I go here, I go there, been wearing it. Take a shower with it on. It’s just on me.”
On Monday, a league spokesman said the matter will be addressed with Beckham and the Browns prior to their upcoming game on Monday Night Football because, although the NFL rulebook doesn’t have any clauses which prohibit jewelry, it does ban “projecting objects” and “uncovered hard objects.”
Beckham says his watch doesn’t fit either category because it’s plastic and that the NFL is just singling him out.
“You got to look into the rule book. It says you can’t wear any hard objects. The watch is plastic,” he said. “People have knee braces on that are hard and made out of metal. You don’t see them taking them off. Everyone has jewelry on. So, I’m good. If anybody else would’ve worn the watch, if it was a $20 watch, it wouldn’t been no problem. That’s just my life. If it ain’t this, it’s something else. If it wasn’t the watch, it would’ve been the way I’d tied my shoes.”

The watch Beckham wore during Cleveland’s 43-13 beatdown by the Tennessee Titans on Sunday was originally believed to be a limited-edition Richard Mille watch worth as much as $350,000 on the resale market, but the company says that’s not the case.
According to a company spokesperson, Beckham’s watch is one of a 500-piece collection. The watch company also said Beckham is a customer and not a brand ambassador.
