Magic Johnson called for the firing of any Michigan State officials who were aware of Larry Nassar’s sexual abuse and did not act in a series of tweets Monday morning. Johnson is Michigan State’s most famous alum, having led the 1979 Spartan basketball team to a national championship. But Johnson also tacitly expressed support for basketball coach Tom Izzo, tweeting “As a Spartan, I love MSU and want to work with Coach Izzo, the administration and the students to be a part of the solution in any way that I can.” Izzo has been implicated in a long history of coverups in Michigan State athletics, specifically of basketball and football players accused of sexual assault.
