Issyk-Kul, in Kyrgyzstan’s northeast corner, is the second largest saltwater lake in the world, behind the Caspian Sea. Despite being encircled by snowcapped mountains, the Issyk-Kul (which means “warm lake” in Kyrgyz) never freezes due to its size and salinity. The result is a stunningly diverse group of landscapes within a relatively close proximity. The Terskey Ala-Too range creates dry canyons with stunning, rugged rock formations. The Kungoy Alta-Too, part of the Tian Shan mountains that rise from the south, create frosty peaks. In the center of it all is the warm lake. Lev Koshko traveled to Issyk-Kul with his bike and, with the help from his friends, created this video below.
