A one night outdoor dinner at Storm King

May 18, 2015 9:00 am EDT

So, there’s taking your lady out to dinner.

And then there’s taking your lady out to dinner.

Like, out into the middle of a verdant green field. With massive sculptures all around. And live music.

Second one sounds better, no?

That’s why you should be claiming two seats posthaste at Storm King Art Center’s Summer Solstice Celebration, tickets on sale now.

For those unfamiliar with Storm King, it’s an open-air museum an hour north of the city featuring all manner of jaw-dropping sculpture on 500 acres of bucolic Upstate countryside.

It is gorgeous and bizarre in equal measure. Thus, the perfect setting for a date.

A date that should take place on June 20th, when Storm King’s team erects a white tablecloth al fresco affair for one night only.

The evening begins with cocktails at dusk and private tours of the grounds and exhibitions (including some on view for the first time) before everyone sits for a farm-to-table menu crafted by Back Forty West chef Peter Hoffman.

Post-repast it’s dessert and dancing, with live tunes provided by Dispatch’s Pete Francis.

Now that’s going out to dinner.
