Bomb Bard

Shakespeare improv. Damn good date idea.

  • 08 January 2015

Few knew the art of wooing a lady better than Bill Shakespeare.

Few “thees,” couple “thous,” the occasional beheading. That’s romance, people.

And so, for your date-night pleasure, get thee hence: Improvised Shakespeare Company's three-night run, starting this weekend.

Born in Chicago, ISC goes like this: audience members shout out titles of yet-to-be-written plays, and the troupe (including the star of HBO’s new hit Silicon Valley) sets to crafting 100% off-the-cuff tales to match.

Results are zany. Occasionally prophylactic based. Guys like Sir Patrick Stewart have been known to pop in and and add their two theatrical pennies.

ISC only hits New York on occasion, and tickets will go quickly — so we suggest grabbing a pair now.

Before thou misseth out.

Nota bene: While you’re in the East Vill, grab a pre-show dinner at new Franco-Japanese boîte Bara — earning raves for both grub and tres romantic ambience.
