Pagani Just Chopped the Top Off the Huayra

Let your hair down, Fabio: the Huayra Roadster is finally here

While detailing his expectations for the just-unveiled Huayra Roadster, Pagani founder Horacio Pagani said, “We hope that this six-year effort can get to touch you, rationally and emotionally.”

With all due respect to Mr. Pagani, we’re hoping for more of a physical connection.

A new and improved version of the Huayra hardtop — a divine creation with gullwing doors, tremendous power and a $1.4 million base price — the Roadster can go with or without a roof.

From its wider wheel arches to its aggressively styled mouth, the Roadster was designed to be even more aerodynamic than its predecessor and, at 2,820 pounds, is actually even lighter than the Huayra Coupe thanks to a suspension made of a lightweight aluminum alloy called HiForg. Powered by a 12-cylinder Mercedes-AMG M158 engine that’s built just for Pagani, the 764-HP Roadster also sports a seven-speed AMT transmission with seamless shifting thanks  a hydraulic activation system with carbon synchronizers.

Along with an upgraded interior, the physical appearance of the Roadster is altered by the aforementioned roof options, and you can go with either a carbon fiber or soft fabric cover up top.

“If we think of the Huayra Coupe as a personification of elegance and timeless lines, the Huayra Roadster was to be the rebellious sister, shapely and beautiful, but with a sharp edge for those who are careless,” according to Mr. Pagani.

Apparently Pagani found at least 100 of those careless individuals, because every single Huayra Roadster is already spoken for despite a $2.4 million asking price.

Probably worth every lira.
