Going for a summer drive: good.

Going for a summer drive in Côte d’Azur: better.

Going for a summer drive in Côte d’Azur in a Mercedes-Benz SL: best.

That third option is now available to travelers heading to Tuscany or the French Riviera this summer courtesy of Mercedes-Benz’s Classic Car Travel program.

The company has mapped out two separate guided trips on prearranged routes that will take groups of drivers on the road for four days of coastal cruising, complete with stays at boutique hotels, visits to historical sites and feasts at local restaurants.

By working with Gert Pichter — one of the founders of driving experience provider Nostalgic GmbH — Mercedes has crafted one trip that takes drivers to Cannes, Avignon, Arles and Saint-Rémy, and another that brings them to Siena, Pienza, San Gimignano and Montepulciano.

"We have carefully selected routes that are a little off the beaten track and that showcase some stunning scenery," says Pichler.

Trip takers will have the option of driving a Pagoda SL or the later R107 model to start, and then swap over to the other option during the experience.

The trips start at around $2,260 and would certainly make for great Father’s Day gifts.
