In the future, your dream to one day own a Viper may be just that: a dream.
Because Dodge just announced that 2017 will go down as the last year of the Viper.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that to commemorate the speedster’s legendary run, they are releasing five new special-edition models for the taking. Each ride will be limited to production run of 25-100 contingent on demand (for point of perspective, Dodge sold a grand total of 676 Vipers last year).
The five in question:
No more than 25 green and black-striped Snakeskin Edition GTCs inspired by the 2010 Snakeskin ACR with a carbon fiber spoiler, front splitter and black interior.
The rest of the models will be track-ready ACRs (for American Club Racer) with Extreme Aero packages consisting of a big ‘ol rear wing, a removable front splitter and dive planes in carbon with removable fender vents and hood.
First, a “Dealer Edition” ACR: white with a competition blue center stripe, an adrenaline red driver’s side stripe and red stitching. Dodge is promising no more than 33.
Then you’ve got 100 (or fewer) white GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACRs, based on the ‘97 FIA that took home the GT2 championship, and two black ACRs: up to 31 of the VooDoo II Edition with grey and red striping, and up to 28 of the 1:28 Edition, which pays homage to the lap record set by Randy Pobst last October at Laguna Seca.
All the newbies will come with some tantalizing bells ‘n’ whistles, including a one of one customization program (“there are 50 million ways to personalize a Viper”), bonus plaques, special badges, color-coordinated protective covers and the owner’s name emblazoned above the driver door.
