Some things, once beheld, seem too good to be true.
The new Camaro. Steph Curry’s jumper. Scarlett Johansson.
But they’re real, man. They’re real, and they’re spectacular.
Please let this be next: the Spontaneous Pop-up Display (SPUD) by Arovia, a 24-inch vinyl composite computer screen with 1280x720-pixel resolution that weighs less than two pounds and collapses to the size of your fist for easy transport.
SPUD was designed to be compatible and connect with any smartphone, tablet or laptop via Wi-Fi or an HDMI cord. The device debuted at South by Southwest after inventor Alexander Wesley received funding from a National Science Foundation grant. He plans to launch on Kickstarter in a month.
When the project gets funded — and we’re guessing it will — Wesley says SPUD will cost about $300.
That’s a small price to pay to have two feet of foldable TV in your back pocket at all times.
