Welcome to InsideHook’s Staff Picks, a compendium of what our editors are digging recently.

Man, these innocent young Vikings fans are gonna be disappointed in a few weeks. Probably this week.

And now enjoy our staff picks.

KUIU Super Down Ultra Hooded Jacket
Tipping the scales at less than half a pound, this ultralight coat packs down to about the size of a CD case (remember those?) and is the perfect bag stash if you’re going somewhere chilly from somewhere warm. Those with limited space (or limited tolerance for being cold), take note. — Evan Bleier, News Editor

Watches by Schon DSGN
I met product-design wunderkind Ian Schon at the American Field men’s trade show when it passed through Brooklyn in late 2016, where he was hucking his heirloom-worthy alumium and titanium drafting pens. After a few minutes of gentle probing, he giddily mentioned that he had another product coming down the pipeline that I would probably be even more excited about: a collection of one-of-a-kind titanium watches that combine unused, manual-wind Doxa 100 caliber movements with structural components that have been hand-machined by Schon himself. Forget Shinola; this is what a truly exceptional American-made watch looks like. — Walker Loetscher, Editor in Chief

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House
That our President had no intention on winning, or that his hair is orange-ish because he’s too impatient to let the hair color treatment work, isn’t news to me. And while Michael Wolff’s account of the carnival that has commandeered American politics is likely exaggerated, I’m happy to support the cause if its rise to best-seller status helps vex the narcissistic boob in the ivory tower. — Reuben Brody, Los Angeles Editor

Midnight Scoop
Here’s a first-rate solution to an unabashedly First World problem. It’s about damn time an aeronautical engineer pivoted to the ice-cream industry. The Midnight Scoop went through 38 design prototypes before settling on an ergonomic, aerospace-grade aluminum model that’ll provide the perfect scoop. Go pick up a pint. — Tanner Garrity, Editorial Intern

The Buffy Comforter
When someone tells me a blanket is made of fibers “seven times finer than an eyelash,” I expect sleeping in it to feel like floating on a sea of dandelion wisps. Oh, I love being right. The hypoallergenic down-alternative Buffy is the best thing to happen to my bed since it stopped being a couch after a breakup last year. It’s made mainly of Eucalyptus fibers, and is germy-things-averse, repelling mildew, dust mites and pathogens that can accrue in down. And soft, so soft. — Athena Wisotsky, Senior Editor

REVO Party Barge
A countertop ice bucket and food/beverage tub all in one, always on convenient display and fully insulated. Available (for discounted preorder) in black, grey or white. My party vibes and OCD mix well here. — Kirk Miller, Managing Editor

DSPTCH Gym/Work Bag
Finally, a bag that checks all the boxes: a pocket for my laptop, a clutch air-ventilated space for my forever offensive sneakers, and a hidden security pocket for none-of-your-business. Looks trés cool and comes with a lifetime guarantee. — Shari Gab, Senior Producer

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey and the Portland-based Smith Teamaker teamed up to create some variations on a Hot Toddy, aka the best drink you can have during a brutal winter. One we particularly dug was the Kentucky Meadow Hot Toddy:

Place 1 Smith Teamaker Meadow sachet in a cup or mug. Add boiling water, leaving room for the whiskey.  Steep 5 min. Add 1 1/4 oz. Bulleit Bourbon. Remove sachet. Add any of the following: green apple peel, cinnamon stick, 1 tbsp. raw honey or maple syrup. Garnish with apple wedge and shave nutmeg on top.

Expect something a bit floral on the nose with an apple pie-like spiciness.
