If you happen to be in northern Italy and have itch to go for a swim, look no further than the Hotel Terme Millepini, home to the world’s deepest pool. Designed by architect Emanuele Boaretto, the “Y-40,” dubbed for its depth of 40 meters (131 feet), was built as an attraction for leisure swimming and free-diving. Guests frequently scuba dive inside as well.
Filled with thermal spa water, the temperature is maintained around 88 degrees to allow divers to enjoy the bottom without a wetsuit. “Y-40” includes tunnels, caves, and platforms at various heights, in addition to the funnel that reaches the pool’s deepest point.
