This Is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019
Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Def Leppard, and the Zombies join the honorees.
The 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame entrees have officially been announced with Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, and The Cure among those being honored.
Although Nicks was inducted as a member in 1998 as a member of Fleetwood Mac, she is the first and only woman to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on two different occasions. “I have a lot to say about this,” Nicks says of the honor, “but I will save those words for later. For now I will just say, I have been in a band since 1968. To be recognized for my solo work makes me take a deep breath and smile. It’s a glorious feeling.”
It was Def Leppard’s first time on ballot, however, the Zombies have been eligible since 1989 and finally, after a long wait, will be inducted in next year. Roxy Music will also join the class of 2019.
An artist is eligible for the Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their very first single or album. Those nominated this year but didn’t make the cut include: LL Cool J, Rage Against the Machine, and Rufus & Chaka Khan.
The induction ceremony will be held on March 29 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and an edited version of the big night will later air on HBO.
