Every major entertainer seemed to want to get in on the act.

A who’s who of Hollywood figures flocked to Washington, D.C., or New York City to be a part of Saturday’s March for Our Lives, the gun control rally spearheaded by survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

On the streets of Manhattan, Paul McCartney marched by the Dakota, the building where fellow Beatle John Lennon was murdered in 1980.

“One of my best friends was killed by gun violence right around here,” McCartney told CNN.  “So it’s important to me not just to march today but to take action tomorrow.”

George and Amal Clooney, who donated $500,000 to organizers, mingled with the protestors in the Nation’s Capital. For those too young to know who they were, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West also made a cameo.

But the music world turned out in even greater numbers: Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Common and Lin-Manuel Miranda all performed. Closing out the Washington march, Jennifer Hudson hit the highest note of all, singing a rousing gospel rendition of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” The crooner lost her mother, sister and nephew to gun violence ten years ago.
