Warner Bros. is developing a solo movie for Jared Leto’s Suicide Squad joker, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project is in its early stages, so no word yet on who may be writing or directing the DC Cinematic Universe spinoff.

In addition to his starring role, Leto will executive produce the movie.

Warner Bros. appears to be going all-in on Batman’s most famous counterpart. A Joker origin story has been in development for almost a year now, rumored for a time to star Joaquin Phoenix with Todd Phillips in the director’s chair.

Also in development was another Suicide Squad spinoff in which Leto’s Joker would be paired with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

The studio has had an uneven record with its DC movies with critical and box office for Wonder Woman, but largely disappointment for its other films in the shared cinematic universe.
