These Are Paul McCartney’s Favorite Contemporary Musicians
The Beatle revealed his favorites in a recent Reddit AMA
Last week, Paul McCartney participated in a Reddit AMA to promote his new solo album, McCartney III, and while the former Beatle took the time to answer fans’ questions about the record, he also revealed that he’s kept up with the contemporary music scene and listed a few of his favorites.
Responding to a fan who asked “Are there any newer artists that you listen to?”, McCartney wrote, “I’m lucky, I have a friend who sends me new music which helps me keep in touch with the modern scene. So I listen to people like Dominic Fike, Beck, St Vincent, and Khruangbin. I also listen to a lot of classic oldies coming through, from rock n’ roll to 60’s to soul to R’n’B, with a sprinkling of classical music now and then.”
Sir Paul also revealed which TV show he’s been binging during quarantine (“Peaky Blinders, which everyone told me was great but I’d never got round to seeing it. So I just binge watched that. And they were right. It is great!”), his favorite George Harrison song (“‘Here Comes The Sun.’ It is a brilliant song, and the kind of song that’s really good in times like these.”) and vaguely addressed when the last time he saw John Lennon in person was.
“I think it was on a visit to New York and unfortunately I don’t remember the year, so I’d have to say ‘Some Time in New York,’” he wrote.
