The Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon be getting its first transgender character, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed in a recent Q&A.

The revelation came in response to a question at the New York Film Academy asking about the studio’s plans to bring more LGBTQ characters and “specifically the T, trans characters” into the Marvel universe.

“Yes, absolutely yes,” Feige answered. “And very soon, in a movie we’re filming right now.” He didn’t offer any further details about which movie the character will appear in or when fans can expect it to be released.

“You look at the success of Captain Marvel and Black Panther. We want the movies to reflect the audience and we want every member of our global audience to see themselves reflected on the screen,” Feige added. He previously confirmed that Marvel will also be debuting its first gay character in The Eternals, which comes out later this year.

“He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is,” he said of that character at the D23 Expo back in August. The Eternals will also feature the MCU’s first deaf character.
