After rapper Kanye West posted multiple tweets in support for President Trump — including one featuring a “Make America Great Again” hat alongside fire emojis — late-night comedian Stephen Colbert mused that West has lost his mind.
Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed.

“Kanye is getting kind of political,” Colbert observed. “I think Kanye’s lobbying for a job as Trump’s new communications director. He could just change his name to ‘Kellyanne Kanye.’”
Colbert isn’t the only person turned off by Kanye’s tweets about the president. Several of West’s famous friends — including Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry — unfollowed him on the platform following his comments. Some, including Samuel L. Jackson and John Legend, actually posted their own statements in negative reaction to West’s support of the president.
But other musicians, including Chance the Rapper, voiced their support for West’s freedom to choose.
Black people don’t have to be democrats.
