Swann Auction Galleries is set to auction a trove of rare photographs taken in the aftermath of the San Francisco earthquake of 1906.
The lot of 265 photos, which provide a glimpse into the destruction, include street-level images that capture smoke billowing from flattened buildings and the temporary encampments set up by families that lost their houses. The entire lot has a pre-auction estimate on it of $4,000–$6,000.
