Customs agents in Texas discovered nearly $13 million worth of methamphetamine hidden in a truck delivering frozen strawberries this past weekend.
The special delivery was being transported by a Mexican man, according to the Dallas News. The 42-year-old was stopped while crossing the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Officers who inspected the fruit shipment found 906 pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated $12,700,000.
Port Director David Gonzalez called the seizure “an outstanding interception.”
“Our officers’ astute sense of awareness and tenacity is unparalleled and truly commendable,” he said in a statement.
The unidentified driver was arrested transferred to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security.
