Among the lots in Bonhams June 8th “Fine Books and Manuscripts” auction is a special piece of Transatlantic boxing history. The auction house is offering up the U.S. passport issued to boxer Muhammad Ali for his fight against Alvin “Blue” Lewis in Ireland on July 19, 1972. It marked the first time Ali had ever traveled to Ireland for a bout, and Ali didn’t disappoint: He felled Lewis in the 11th round with a TKO. For more on the historic fight, click here. The pre-auction estimate for the passport is $25,000-$35,000. To bid on it, click here.
