Actor Morgan Freeman is being accused by eight women of behaving inappropriately towards them, CNN Entertainment is reporting. The publication interviewed a total of 16 people in their investigation, all of whom corroborated stories that include allegations of sexual harassment, unwanted touching and comments they say Freeman made about the bodies of women he worked with.
“He was looking at my breasts, and I told him, ‘My eyes are up here.’ Then we went to take a group photo and he pressed himself up against me,” one woman who worked on a recent movie with Freeman told CNN. “It was inappropriate.”
Chicago’s WGN-TV producer Tyra Martin recounted a story in which Freeman commented on her clothing after they wrapped an interview. “When I stood up, I pulled my skirt part of my dress down and he did say, ‘Oh, don’t pull it down now.’” Martin told CNN. “That gave me pause but I never felt uncomfortable.”
One former male employee of Revelations called Freeman’s behavior “shocking.”
“[He’d say] things like ‘I’d like to have an hour with her’ or make vulgar and sexual comments about women,” one former male employee of Revelations told CNN. “He would be verbally inappropriate and it was just shocking. You’re more shocked than anything because it’s hard to have the wherewithal to say to him ‘That’s inappropriate.’ You’re just like ‘whoa.’ It’s hard because on any set he is the most powerful person on it. It’s weird because you just don’t expect it from Morgan Freeman, someone who you respect.”
Freeman’s spokesperson has not responded to requests for comment, per CNN.
