Mission Impossible actor Ving Rhames says it was two years ago that he was lounging at his house in basketball shorts watching ESPN when he answered the front door to find a police officer pointing a handgun at him.
A neighbor reported “a large black man” had broken into his house, and three officers arrived on his Santa Monica property in response to the call.
“I open the door and there is a red dot pointed at my face from a 9mm,” Rhames, who portrays Luther Stickell in the action franchise, told listeners on the “Clay Cane Show” on Sirius XM on Friday. “They say, ‘put up your hands.’”
Rhames said the cops quickly realized whose house they were at — but the experience still shook him, Page Six reports.
“He said it was a mistake and apologized,” Rhames said of an officer who recognized him because their sons have played against each other in sports. “My problem is, and I said this to them, what if it was my son and he had a video game remote or something and you thought it was a gun?”
