‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Spongebob’ Musicals Lead 2018 Tony Nominations

Bruce Springsteen, Denzel Washington also get nods for the 72nd annual Tony Awards.

Nominations for the 2018 Tony Awards were announced on Tuesday morning with Mean Girls and Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical leading the pack with a dozen nominations each, Variety reports. Trailing those two were The Band’s Visit and the play revival Angels in America, which took 11 nods a piece. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child garnered nominations in 10 categories and a few notable celebrity names—including Bruce Springsteen, Tiny Fey and Denzel Washington—were on the list as well.

Hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groan—who were both nominated for Tonys in 2017; she won, he didn’t—the 72nd annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live on June 10 from Radio City Music Hall on CBS.
