A five-year-old kangaroo has broken loose in Jupiter Farms, Florida. As of Tuesday night, Storm the kangaroo had been out for more than 24 hours, and has been spotted by several local residents.
Two drones and more than 20 officers are involved in the capture mission, which aims to return Storm to her home at a Florida animal sanctuary operated by a Jupiter Farms resident. Storm weighs 45 pounds and reaches four feet in height.
Kangaroos have an instinct to hide from pursuers, but also don’t have the navigational skills to return home on their own. “Kangaroos are smart enough to know that if they get out, they don’t want to be caught,” said Michael Poggi, a local animal expert (who also happens to aid Vanilla Ice in all of his needs as an exotic animal owner). “Once they’re out, they know it’s time to have fun,” he continued.
