For all who lost out on Russell Crowe’s Cinderella Man jockstrap (refresher: John Oliver purchased it for $7K and shipped it up to America’s last remaining Blockbuster in Anchorage, Alaska), there’s another personal effects supersale on the horizon.
This time, it’s from the been-around-the-mountain treasure chest of the late Hugh Hefner.
Hosted by Julien’s Auctions, the auction will take place November 30-December 1 (both live in LA, and online) and will donate all proceeds to The Hugh M. Hefner Foundation, which advocates for civil liberties and common-sense policies on sex and drugs.
What’s on the docket? The lots range from Hef’s personal set of Playboys ($20-40K), to his college typewriter ($300-500). There’s a leather-bound SNL script from when he hosted in 1977, his 1980 Lakers championship ring, a 1925 edition of The Great Gatsby … and yes, that near-biblical bespoke smoking jacket. It’s expected to fetch between $3-5K and for obvious reasons, Larry David needs to buy it.
