Those seeking a resolution to Harvey Weinstein’s current trial might have to wait a little longer. The Associated Press is reporting that the jury has indicated that it’s currently split on the most serious charges.
In a note sent to the judge during their lunch break, jurors asked if it were permissible for them to be hung on two counts of predatory sexual assault while reaching a unanimous verdict on other charges.
According to the report, the judge in the case, James Burke, has ordered them to return with unanimous verdicts on all counts. Weinstein currently faces five felony charges against him; these include rape, criminal sexual act and predatory sexual assault. If convicted of the last of these, Weinstein could be sentenced to life in prison.
The jury has been deliberating for four days total. Earlier today, they asked to re-hear the testimony of actress Annabella Sciorra, who accused Weinstein of raping her in the mid-1990s.

Whether the deliberations will take several more days or are nearing their conclusion remains to be seen. Regardless, this one trial remains a fraction of a much larger debate about power structures and the way powerful men have abused their power over the years.
