One Man’s Mission to Photograph All 532 Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings

The first 50 are done. Wanna see?

Frank Lloyd Wright, the man, the myth, the architect, spent his life making things of great beauty.

Andrew Pielage, the photographer, is spending his life, or at least a solid chunk of it, snapping pictures of those things.

The unofficial shutterbug of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Pielage secured his gig after impressing the foundation with photos he snapped of Wright’s former home and studio outside Phoenix, Taliesin West.

“I immediately connected to his use of blending his structures with the environment that surrounds them,” Pielage told Lonely Planet Travel News. “Wright says, ‘Hill and house should live together, each the happier for the other,’ and that is apparent at the first sight of this architecture. I had seen his work in books, and his integration of design into the environment is really what kick-started my passion for Frank Lloyd Wright.”

Since then, Pielage has been dedicated to photographing as many of the 532 projects that FLW designed as possible and has already traveled to, and taken sick snaps of, 50 of ‘em.

Luckily for those of us who don’t have such an open travel schedule (or as refined camera skills), Pielage posts his work on his Instagram account for Wright fans to enjoy at leisure.
