Some scoffed at the chances of a former reality TV star’s chances at snagging the Oval Office. We all know how that turned out.
Now, a former model (above left) and White House staffer is running for congress.
In a first-person essay for Cosmopolitan, Alejandra “Ali” Campoverdi explained that she would be running in a special election for California’s 34th District.
Campoverdi has qualifications that go much deeper her looks: She holds master’s in public policy from Harvard, has experience working for then-Senator Barack Obama’s campaign for president, and was later appointed the first-ever White House deputy director of Hispanic media in Obama’s White House.
She also modeled for Maxim magazine.
In the piece, Compoverdi says:
“I’m proud of the mosaic of experiences that make me who I am. My life experiences have forged me into a fighter and that’s why I decided that I won’t let others’ boxes stop me from doing what needs to be done—running for office, standing up to Trump and Republicans, and standing up for women in Los Angeles.”
