Author Gillian Flynn’s novel Sharp Objects in 2006 is being adapted into an eight-episode series, developed by Marti Noxon (UnREAL) and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies, Wild). The show follows Camille and her mother, Adora, who have a toxic relationship. Camille (Amy Adams, who also is an executive producer), is a crime reporter who recently got out of a psych hospital for her years of self-harm. She returns to her home time to investigate the murders of two little girls, but is forced to confront her own demons, including a spoiled half-sister. The show will debut summer 2018 on HBO.
