One of the largest amusement parks in Virginia was closed on Wednesday as the FBI simulated a terror attack that involved a weapon of mass destruction, according to Esquire. The simulated attack also included either an active shooter or a second explosion, as reported by the Associated Press.
Residents were warned to expect the sound of fake gunfire and increased police presence near Kings Dominion, which is located in Doswell, Virginia — that’s about 75 miles from Washington, D.C. John Lenkart, the assistant special agent in charge, reportedly told the AP that the simulation involved “a national-level response” from law enforcement, with a dozen agencies participating in the training.
