Pop singer Demi Lovato is awake and stable after an apparent drug overdose, TODAY is reporting. Lovato, 25, was hospitalized on Tuesday in Los Angeles and was reportedly revived by the emergency drug Narcan. Lovato has struggled openly over her years-long battle with addiction to various drugs, most recently releasing the heart-wrenching song “Sober,” which apologizes to her family and fans for relapsing again.
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support,” a family spokesperson told NBC News. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy.”
Multiple celebrities came forward to express their support for the singer on Twitter, including Lady Gaga, Ellen Degeneres and supermodel Tyra Banks.
I love @DDLovato so much. It breaks my heart that she is going through this. She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family.
