Though Daniel Craig is already on board to return as 007, MGM and Eon are looking to hire a director for the next installment of the James Bond franchise, and high on their list is Danny Boyle, who also directed Slumdog Millionaire. However, no official offer has been made yet. Boyle has shown interest in the project and Variety writes that he has always wanted to direct a Bond film. He is currently working on a project for Working Title, but there is no cast currently attached, so it could be pushed back while he directs the 25th installment of the popular James Bond franchise. Variety writes that White Boy Rick director Yann Demange was also considered as a top choice for the job, but there has been one last push to go after a more well-known name. The previous two installments were directed by Sam Mendes, and they were the highest-grossing films in the series. Skyfall brought in $1.1 billion globally and Spectre earned $880 million at the worldwide box office.
