Stephen Colbert acknowledged to viewers Tuesday night that there’s no one to be angry with following a diverse list of Oscar nominees from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including Lady Bird’s woman director Greta Gerwig and Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, whose movie “The Shape of Water” leads the pack with 13 nominations.

“There are no controversies over lack of diversity,” Colbert said, acknowledging Gerwig and del Toro. “Meanwhile, Jordan Peele was directed for “Get Out,” making him only the fifth black director ever nominated for a Best Directing Oscar…Jordan Peele is now going to be invited to a big party thrown by rich white people,” Colbert quipped. “I hope he’s seen ‘Get Out.’”
