The jury in Bill Cosby’s retrial in Pennsylvania found the former TV icon guilty of all three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in a Philadelphia suburb 14 years ago. The 80-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison on each count, but would likely serve them concurrently, reports CNN. Constand left the courtroom through a side door with a huge smile on her face and her arms around two women. Cosby shouted at the prosecutor in court when he bail was discussed, reports CNN.
The retrial focused on testimony from Constand, a former employee with Temple University’s women’s basketball team. Cosby was a powerful trustee at Temple at the time. Constand testified that Cosby drugged her and sexually assaulted her when she visited his home to ask for career advice. Cosby’s defense team argued that their interaction was consensual and that Constand just wants a part of Cosby’s fortune.
Dozens of women have accused Cosby of sexual misconduct, but only Constand’s allegations resulted in criminal charges. His previous trial ended in a mistrial because jurors could not unanimously agree on a verdict. This is the first celebrity sexual assault trial since the #MeToo movement hit last fall.
