The Cannes Film Festival is unofficially superyacht season in France, and plenty of wealthy yacht owners have already studded the Cote d’Azur with their stunning vessels.
The festival has long been one of the season’s top destinations for the extremely wealthy, who flock to the French Riviera to show off their massive, extravagant yachts. From Antibes to Monacco and the Jetee Albert Edouard in the Old Port of Cannes, plenty of luxurious yachts belonging to Cannes’ wealthiest attendees have popped up for festival-goers to ogle.
This year’s festival — featuring highly anticipated premieres including Elton John’s Rocketman and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — promises a thriving superyacht party schedule, with tons of massive boats belonging to the rich and famous cruising in for the event.
As usual, Forbes is on yacht watch for the event, and has already reported a number of high-profile watercrafts spotted in and around Cannes, including those docked in Monte Carlo, Cap d’Antibes, Marseilles, La Ciotat, and St. Tropez.
Some of the most impressive vessels include Eclipse, the 533-foot yacht owned by Israeli-Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. According to Forbes, the massive watercraft is the second-largest yacht in the world, which Abramovich purchased for nearly $400 million in 2010.
Another 500+-foot stunner on site is Dilbar, owned by Russian-Uzbek business magnate Alisher Usmanov. The 512-foot yacht is currently in Antibes.
Yachts belonging to NFL team owners Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones — owners of the Washington Redskins and Dallas cowboys, respectively — have also been spotted. Meanwhile, plenty of royalty have also shown up to flaunt their vessels, including yachts owned by high-profile Saudi Arabian investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and the Bahrain royal family.
Forbes is updating their list regularly, so be sure to check in for latest updates on yacht season in Cannes.
