A new investigation by Stat and The Boston Globe tells the stories of multiple guests who claim the Dr. Phil show put their health at risk. All three complaints accuse the show of lax medical attention at best, and at worst abetting the addictions of the people the show claims to help. One man, who appeared on the show multiple times, suffers from alcohol addiction and claims he found vodka left out in his dressing room on multiple occasions. Two other guests on the show claim that staffers assisted them in finding drugs when they were going into detox. Martin Greenberg, the show’s director of professional affairs, vigorously denied that the show did wrong in these cases, and claims that the show offers as much medical support as possible to its guests.
