Dinner Plan: Highland Park

A dumpling house, live jazz and cocktails. Book it.

From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time.

This week, we head to Highland Park for cocktails, dumplings and some sultry live jazz.

Get Fed: Mason’s Dumpling Shop
Highland Park

The Monrovia-based dumpling kings at Mason’s just opened an outpost in Highland Park, where their handmade dumplings are delivered fresh every order. It’s the dumplings you used to drive an hour to consume, but closer. Don’t fill up — this is just the appetizer.

Have a Drink: ETA
Highland Park

ETA is a new cocktail lounge not too far from Mason’s Dumpling Shop. Stiff cocktails. Fresh ingredients. Lots of grilled cheese sandwiches and meat boards to keep your buzz at a manageable level. And they host jazz shows some nights, so check that calendar.

Dance: The Hi Hat
Highland Park

If ETA doesn’t have jazz, or you’re just interested in different tunes, check out The Hi Hat on York. Highland Park now has a bevy of music venues, and may officially be L.A.’s best ‘hood for live music. We like the Hi Hat because they book everything from indie to hard rock to hip-hop (calendar).
